Radiologist and Neuroradiologist
Dr. Alvarado is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. He is a radiologist and neuroradiologist within the Department of Radiology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Alvarado earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus in San Juan. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at the same institution. Dr. Alvarado then pursued a fellowship in pediatric radiology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric neuroradiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Ohio. His clinical interests include congenital brain malformations, congenital spine malformations and neoplasia.
Dr. Alvarado is board certified in radiology. He is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, American Roentgen Bay Society and Society of Pediatric Radiology. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented at conferences.
Dr. Alvarado sees patients at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
The Department of Radiology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital features state-of-the-art equipment. The radiology practice has been serving the community since the hospital's inception in 1950. Under the leadership of Dr. Nolan R. Altman, department chief, the group is the largest in South Florida devoted exclusively to the practice of pediatric radiology. It includes board-certified experts in pediatric radiology, nuclear medicine, neuroradiology and cardiac CT imaging, with special interests in pediatric interventional and musculoskeletal disorders. The group is the only one in South Florida that offers a pediatric radiology fellowship, and also trains radiology residents.
